Amer is recognized by the California Board of Occupational Therapy as having Advanced Practice Certifications in Hand Therapy (HTC) and in Physical Agents Modalities (PAM).

Amer received honorable commendations for Home Health Care in 2006 from the: California State Senate, California State Assembly, City of San Francisco (CA), and from New Haven Home Health Services in Daly City, CA.

He has extensive experience in treating patients who had a stroke in a variety of settings: private practice, home health, acute care, acute rehabilitation, trauma, intensive care units, skilled
nursing facilities and out-patient settings.

Amer currently sees patients privately, through home health care and skilled nursing facilities. He has completed several advanced courses for Management of Adults with Hemiplegia.

He received his B.S. in Occupational Therapy (accelerated program) at San Jose State University (San Jose, California), and his A.S. in Occupational Therapy (accelerated program, highest honors) at Sacramento City College (Sacramento, California). Amer was trained in Golf Rehabilitation at Clemson University (Clemson, South Carolina). He is completing his Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (O.T.D.) at Creighton University (Omaha, Nebraska).

Amer was a curriculum adviser and faculty member for an Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) program at Western Career College in California (1997-2000); and has been active as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty for OT educational programs in California (San Jose State University, Dominican College, Samuel Merritt College, University of Southern California, Western Career College, and Sacramento City College).

Amer's management experience includes: Director of Occupational Therapy for Beverly Health Care Center in San Francisco; Director of Rehabilitation Services for Beverly Rehabilitation in San Francisco; and as Director of Rehabilitation Services for 3 facilities managed by a Salt Lake City(Utah) based contract company in Las Vegas(Nevada).
